A Stronger Tomorrow
But if I say, "I will not mention him or speak any more in his name," his word is in my heart like a ␣re, a ␣re shut up in my bones. I am weary of holding it in; indeed, I cannot. - Jeremiah 20:9
A Stronger Tomorrow!
My stay in Mozambique ended with a party that left me encouraged. It was the biggest baby dedication of the summer! Of the century! It was a time to celebrate the birth of Manuel and Ramizia’s long, long awaited Junior. Ramazia carried this baby for ten months!
This gathering represented a strong tomorrow for our loved ones here in Mozambique. It was a time of coming together to build the body. It was a time of reunion, celebration and communion with our King. People of all ages from five Ray of Light churches made up a good part of the 250-300 people in attendance.
Several cakes were served. We drank the traditional celebration drink, mahao, along with plenty of Coke and Fanta. ␣ere were many who came bearing gi␣s of clothes, blankets, soap, money, detergent and even a couple of chickens! These were gifts of love returned to a man and woman who have loved others unselfishly.
I first came to know Ramazia in 2006.␣I have watched her grow over the last four years and become the woman, wife and now mother, that she is today.
Being a part of her life is in part, the work that I do while in Mozambique.␣ Mentoring young women, being a mother to those who have none, and a friend to speak the truth of God's Word.␣␣Each morning I pray that God's plan will be the plan I follow and not my own. ␣␣thank you for being part of God's plan by helping me minister in Dondo.
In obedience,
Kathy

Dancing is the Delight of my Day!
Dancing Is The Delight of My Day!
Baby dedications are plentiful here. On any given Sunday we have an opportunity to go to dance, sing and celebrate the gift of a new life.
As we settled into the area and waited, it wasn't long before Noemia walked into the neighborhood and we all knew that the activities would soon begin. Seats of honor are lined around a serving table for the men, Noemia and the other Missionaries. I would rather sit on the ground with my girlfriends but it is not appropriate here.
If you have never met Noemia she is a woman who stands a head taller than most women here and everyone knows who she is. Noemia is Pastor Jeronimo's wife and together they have the vision, the dream of how the culture will one day be changed here in this small village of Mafahrina. Every parent wants this same vision for their child. A chance to make a difference, an education, something to help their child get out of the rut of the deep and stubborn poverty that is here. And, the real vision of the Cessito's is to give the children the knowledge of Christ. To change their hearts, to lessen the population of the families that are dying with AIDS. To give them a hope of eternal life, a true relationship with Jesus.
This is the reason why I love it here. Once you have heard the vision that God has given them, it then becomes ours. This is the reason why I want to walk along side of Noemia and Jeronimo here on the sandy soil of Mozambique. I want to be part of this vision, to help carry out a work that God has already begun, to change a culture, to change a nation, to change a world. We have to have Jesus, He is coming back soon! Maranatha!

12 days in Mozambique
Dear Beloved Friends and Family
Just like in the 12 days of Christmas, living each day here in Dondo finds a surprise. Good things and hard things as well, each day has been a learning process to steady ourselves for this culture and for this time.
I have gotten my first time ever speeding ticket, a new cell phone that doesn’t work, found that a friend has died, paid too much for too many things, been tricked into buying extra containers for water, had to buy a new tire, had a bad gas tank for the stove, people beg for food, money and for work, bought fresh shrimp brought to the house on the back of a bike, bought a refrigerator, two beds, nets and lots and lots of food for the soon to be here Americans. We are just about as ready as we can get without anyone being here to tell me I forgot something☺
Everyday has been full. We have been blessed because we are protected and healthy. We are able to see God working each day, sometimes moment by moment here. We love the people here, the life and our work.
I trust that you are continuing to pray for the work we do here. Thank you so much for your support in so many ways. I will try to each week post a blog, so stay tuned to walking the sandy soil of Mozambique.

Hello my dear ones,
How are you today? I am fine:) Thanks be to God. That would be something that we say here each time we see each other .... como esta? tudo bem.... eu bom.. gracias a Deus.
The last couple of days have been a time of getting myself rested and ready for the work to begin. Even though we have done inventories and making arrangements and plans for when the teams come the time has been good seeing people bit by bit. The Cessito's are doing well and their vision has even expanded more from what we knew last year and this is good as God's plans are always growing and developing.
Saturday we drove into Beira the port city to buy a few things and a cell phone. I ran to the open market to see my veggie lady and there was a young woman there and I said with much enthusiasm, "where is Farita?" Her daughter answered, "Farita is my mother and she died." I couldn't breathe for a moment and tears filled my eyes as I stood there with my mouth open. It took a moment and I said, "I am so sorry" and I walked out the door. I had to remind myself that life is hard here, people die, they die often in our circle of friends, but God has the master plan. I don't know if Farita is in heaven, I didn't talk to her about Jesus, we only talked about church. My hope is that I don't let too many more days go by that I only talk about church and that I don't waste time to talk about Jesus. Pray that I will know when the right time is to talk, pray that other's trusting me will come easy, pray the relationships will grow quickly. Time is running out. Pray that I am in the Father's will.

The time to leave is drawing near!
I can't believe that this year has gone by so quickly! It seems like I just get home and I start to prepare for the coming trip and before you know it..... it's here. I am to the point of this process that I have to start removing activities of my schedule to be free to think about and work on the things that are of importance for being out of the country for 3-4 months. Speaking of which, my plane ticket is scheduled to have me back in country August 16th. The beginning plan was to have me home for our family reunion, but I'm thinking that staying for the Women's conference might be the deal for this year.
Hundred's of women gather for the Sofala Baptist Women's Convention each year and it is a sight to behold! Each church has it's own tribal dress and dance that they perform at their own appointed time. Then there are groups who join together and learn a dance and show their gifts. Then towards the end of three days, all of the women who would want to participate, join in together, learn a dance and they all together perform a dance for all to view. This is an important part of the conference. This is an act of worship to God, to worship Him, to give thanks to Him, to love on others and to know that each day is another gift. Life is hard in Africa. Everyday is hard.

Obedience Now!
I just received my support report from the office and I look at this form on the screen of my computer and I am amazed at the names I see before my eyes! Old friends.... loved ones... new friends, just a small group of folks that God has privileged me with over the years to call them my people. But the thing that makes me smile more than anything else is that they listened to God speak to them. They answered a whisper in their ear. They were obedient to obey the voice of the Master. Supporting a missionary is not about the person who goes.... it's not about where they go.... I believe it is about obeying God. It's the knowing that all we have we do not own. You can not out give God. God calls... we answer! We call.... God answers! You just gotta love the Lord! He is so good:)

Ely Pres. church in the country
Today I share with the congregation of a small church in the country outside of Ely, Iowa. These folks were absolutely a delight! There was one woman, her name was Zelda, she played in a band in my past from years ago. Another little older woman, shorter than myself if you can believe that! Mrs. Biderman, the drummer on the MBC worship team, his Mother! The bass player and banjo player from the Bluegrass band I have played with for years. Just a number of really nice folks thanking me for sharing with them my adventures in Africa. Pastor Heather, a warm hearted, easily taken to tears, young woman who has been given a gift of pastoring this flock of believers. I looked at her as she prayed when the service started and prayed that God would annoint her service to Him with the family. Bless them all! They were very generous in their giving to my ministry. My prayer is that they would consider a full time commitment with me in the future. Pray with me on this one as I seek God's leading for this next year to work on the field serving Him in Mozambique.
